How does it work?

This technology leverages OpenCV, a robust graphics library. By capturing an image of your tire and analyzing a cross-section, the app quantifies the amount of dark ridges present. Darker shades indicate sufficient tread depth, while closer matches to the tire's surface suggest wear. Although it doesn't measure tread depth in millimeters precisely, it provides reliable results, albeit with occasional false positives when testing inappropriate objects. Notably, certain phone models, such as LG phones, may exhibit compatibility issues depending on OpenCV support within the Android ecosystem.

Tire Check Test Procedure

1. Aim your phone over the tire using the Red Target square for alignment. Ensure to wipe the tire's cross-section with a cloth to remove debris or shine in case of wet conditions.
2. Select the specific tire for testing.
3. Steadily hold the camera and choose the blue icon. The optimal alignment between your phone and the tire may differ; hence, repeated tests may enhance calibration accuracy.
4. If necessary, employ the timer by selecting the green icon to allow adjustments within a 10-second window.
5. For accurate outcomes, conduct checks under dry weather conditions primarily. In wet conditions, eliminate any surface moisture for precise assessments.
